Captain Samuel Brickell

NEWPORT NEWS

One of our old citizens is about to shake the dust of Newport from his shoes and turn his back upon the city.  Captain Samuel Brickell, who has been a resident of Newport during the past twenty-five years yesterday disposed of his household furniture preparatory to a removal of his family to New Orleans.

He has been steamboating upon the Ohio and Mississippi Rivers for the past sixteen years that we know of, and with but poor success; and the reason that he transfers himself to another city is to better his fortunes, which Heaven grant he may.
