Samuel Bellville Pension
 

Private, Delaware Militia; Placed on Pension Roll 14 April 1834

Pension began 4 Mar 1831, age 72

State of Kentucky, County of Campbell. Samuel Bellville on 23rd of April 1833 appeared in open court, before circuit court, a resident of said county and state, aged 71 years on the 9th day of January last, makes his oath; He entered into United States service under named officers following. He served in April 1777. He entered the service in New Castle County, Delaware in militia company commanded by Captain Hugh McCracken; in regiment commanded by Colonel Paterson; discharged after completing two years and three months service; in a skirmish at Fort Penn in New Castle (where) Joseph Middleton was killed. He was never engaged in regular battle. He was never a substitute for any person. He relinquishes every claim to a pension and declares that his name in not on the pension roll, but he has a documentary evidence by which he can prove his service. He does not know of any one who could testify to his service.

We, Thomas Herbert and J. B. Lindsey certify that we are well acquainted with Samuel Bellville and believe him to be 71 years of age, that he is respected and believed in the neighborhood to have been a soldier in the Revolution.
