Rudolph Heinrich Wilhelm Ehrhart

 

Rudolph Heinrich Wilhelm Ehrhardt was born 16 Apr 1831 in Wülften am Harz, Hanover Province, Germany to Johann George Heinrich Ehrhart and Sophie Charlotte Kemstedt. Known in America as William or Will, he married Caroline Bode before 1857, the couple emigrating from Wulften to Cincinnati Oh.

A few years after Will's departure from Wulften, his younger brother, H. J. Conrad Ehrhardt, emigrated from Germany to Cincinnati, living for a time in Cincinnati with Will and Caroline. Following the Civil War, Conrad, a tailor, relocated in Decatur Co IN.

William served in the War of the Rebellion as a teamster wagoner in Co F 181 Ohio Volunteer Infantry enlisting 11 Dec 1861 and discharged 13 Nov 1865. Later moved his family to Carroll Co., KY where he farmed for some years prior to a final move to Campbell Co., KY. This Ehrhardt couple parented five children; daughters Resa, Caroline, Susan, and Augusta; and son, Henry William Ehrhardt.

William died 7 Aug 1897 in Gubser Mill, Campbell County and was buried in the Persimmon Grove Cemetery. His wife died in 1906 and was also buried in Persimmon Grove.
