Funeral arrangements were being completed Thursday for Technical Sergt. Royce A Candrell, 24, son of Mrs. Margaret Cantrell, 38 E Southgate avenue, Ft Thomas, who was killed Tuesday in the crash of a medium Army bomber shortly after taking off from Abbott Field, Avon Park Fla.

Mrs. Cantrell was notified of her son's death while at work at the Wadsworth Watch Case Co. Dayton. She collapsed and was removed to Speers Hospital for treatment. Sgt. Cantrell enlisted in the Army Air Forces last July and received his preliminary training as a gunner at Tyndall Field, Fla. and studied engineering and navigation at Page Field, Ft Myers Fla.

He was a machinist at the Bickford Machine Tool Co. Cincinnati before enlisting. Sgt. Cantrell attended Holmes High School, Covington, and Norton Va. High School. A sister, Miss Eloise Cantrell, an employee in the offices of the Kroger Grocery & Baking Co. Cincinnati, has enlisted for duty with the WAVES and is awaiting assignment for her basic training.

A graduate of Holmes High School, Miss Cantrell is a member of the Women's Unit, Headquarters Co. Kentucky Active Militia. She is a night student at Xavier University, Cincinnati. Another sister, Miss Flandeen Cantrell, is employed in the office of the Hotel Gibson, Cincinnati.

Before moving to Ft Thomas three weeks ago, the family lived for eight years in Dayton and six years in Covington. They are from Norton Va. Mrs. Cantrell said the body of her son would be returned home for burial. Tharp & Stith, Dayton funeral directors have charge of arrangements.

Military services for Technical Sergt. Royce A Cantrell, 24, son of Mrs. Margaret Cantrell, 38 E Southgate avenue, Ft Thomas, will be held at 2 pm Monday at the Tharp & Stith Funeral Home, Dayton, with burial in Evergreen Cemetery.

Sergt. Cantrell was killed Tuesday in the crash of a medium Army bomber shortly after the plane took off from Abbott Field, Avon. Ga. Besides his mother, he leaves two sisters, Mrs. Eloise Schwierjohann and Miss Flandeen Cantrell, Ft Thomas.
