A taste of Para trooping was experienced by Cpl. Robert C Williams, 19, of Ft Thomas, who fell off a cliff, somersaulted twice in is descent and laned in German lines as he was advancing with his outfit at night near the city of Schmidt, Siegfried Line, it was learned here.

The corporal told officials: "I ran as far as I could, then lay down. After a rest, I went on. It took me four days to find the Americans and medical aid. If it had been daylight, the Germans would have got me."

Seriously injured in his fall, Cpl. Williams, who is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Williams, 102 Cottage Hill avenue, Ft Thomas, is now recovering at the Foster General Hospital, Jackson Miss. With the infantry in Luxemburg and Germany, Cpl. Williams, who entered the service in 1940, was awarded the Purple Heart March 9.
