Lt. Robert A Wessling, 26, son of Harry B Wessling, of 923
Washington avenue, Newport and husband of Ruth L Wessling, of 2931 Massachusetts
avenue, Cincinnati, was declared dead by the War Department as of July 9, 1945,
according to word received here.
Lt. Wessling, a navigator on a B-26 bomber, was listed as missing in action July 8, 1944, after failing to return from a mission over France. A graduate of Newport High School, he entered the service in October 1942, and was sent overseas in April 1944. He was awarded the Purple Heart posthumously. A Memorial Requiem High Mass will be sung at 9 am Saturday at St Stephen Church, Newport.

SERVICE IS PLANNED FOR ARMY AVIATOR
Requiem High Mass for Lt. Robert A. Wessling, killed in action when flying over France, in July 1944, will be sung at 8 a.m. Wednesday at St. Stephen Church, Newport. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery, Virginia.
Lieutenant Wessling, who was 25 years old, entered the service in October 1942, and he received his commission January 15, 1944. His home was at 2489 Westwood.
Surviving Lieutenant Wessling, are his widow, Mrs. Ruth L. Wessling; his father, Harry Wessling, Newport; and a sister, Mrs. Irvin Bacon, Southgate.
