FT THOMAS-Robert, son of Quartermaster Sergeant R Vonder Goltz, stationed at Ft Thomas, was notified Friday of a handsome Christmas gift. HIs father received word from the court officials of his native town in Germany informing him that by the death of his sister, the boy inherits her estate, amounting to $30.000. The money will reach here about Jan 1 and will be invested for the benefit of the youngster.

Sergt. Vonder Goltz is himself posses of a comfortable competence, and will come into an estate of about $80,000 by the death of his father. He is at present trying to be retired from the army with the rank of Captain and has the assistance of Senator Foraker and other influential men.

Post Quartermaster Sergeant Robert Vonder Goltz, who has been on duty at Fort Thomas since 1898, was discharged yesterday by expiration of term of service. The Sergeant has served 30 years.

Past Quartermaster Sergeant Robert Von der Goltz, who recently re-enlisted, will have a four months furlough, but will not leave until another Sergeant of the staff is sent here to take his place. At the end of his furlough, Sergeant Von der Goltz will have served 30 years and can retire from active service.
