Assistant Chief of Police Robert Plattner was removed to Speers Hospital in Dayton, Thursday afternoon for treatment. He has been feeling ill for some time and Dr. Barker, who is attending him, is of the opinion that he has typhoid fever. He is also suffering from nervous prostration, thought to have been brought on by loss of sleep.
During the last three weeks he, as agent for the Balke estate, has been up until after midnight attending the wants of the various secret societies. He was much improved Friday morning.

Robert Plettner, agent of the Balke estate in Bellevue and prominent in Odd Fellows, Ben Hur and Knights of Pythias circles, died at 10:30 am today at his home on Berry av. Bellevue above Fairfield av. after a long illness. His failing health forced him to abandon his poition as Assistant Chief of Police some time ago. He had not been well for years. He leaves a widow and two sons and two daughters. Arrangements for the funeral have not been made.

Dr. Richards and Schoolfield held an autopsy upon the remains of Robert Plettner and found that death had been caused by a tumor on the brain. He had been ill for two years with a mysterious disease and it was his wish that a post mortem be held. The deceased was manager of the Balke Opera House and had been Assistant Chief of Police for 15 years. The funeral will take place Sunday afternoon from the Trinity Lutheran Church, Rev Bramkamp officiating. The interment will be in Evergreen Cemetry. Bellevue Odd Fellows Lodge and Ben Hur Lodge will meet at 7:30 tonight to take action on the death.
