Pfc. Robert Knecht, South Grand avenue, Ft Thomas, a member of group of some 15 Campbell county boys cited for bravery for their work in the invasion of Salerno, was killed when the Germans bombed the hospital unit.

Private First Class Robert F Knecht, 23 years old, one of several Campbell County youths serving with a hospital unit which was commanded by Lieutenant General Mark Clark in a recent dispatch from Italy, was killed in a German bombing attack on his hospital base, February 7, the youth's mother, Mrs. Lucy Knecht, 609 South Grand Avenue, Ft Thomas, has been informed by the War Department.

Private Knecht and his unit were cited for bravery by General Clark during the Allied landing at Salerno. A graduate of Highland High School and the Cincinnati College of Pharmacy, Private Knecht entered the service in October 1942. At the time he was a pharmacist for the Schulker Pharmacy, Ft Thomas.

Besides his mother, he leaves a brother, Technical Sergeant Joseph Knecht, serving with the field artillery at Camp Cook, Calif. and six sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Reis and Catherine, Rosemary, Mary Louise, Martha and Anna Knecht, all of Ft Thomas.

Corp. Robert Knecht, son of Mrs. Lucy Knecht, 609 S Grand avenue, Ft Thomas, who was killed in the battle of Salerno, will be honored at a memorial Mass at St Thomas Church, Ft Thomas at 8 am Tuesday. The young corporal, who was cited for bravery in battle was associated with Schulker's Pharmacy in Ft Thomas before entering the services in October 1942. He was a son of the late Joseph Knecht and a graduate of Highlands High School.

Besides his mother, he leaves a brother, Technical Sergeant Joseph Knecht, serving with the field artillery at Camp Cook, Calif. and six sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Reis and Catherine, Rosemary, Mary Louise, Martha and Anna Knecht, all of Ft Thomas.

Note: Robert Knecht was buried in the Sicily-Rome American Cemetery and Memorial in Nettuno, Cittą Metropolitana di Roma Capitale, Lazio, Italy.
