BOY DIVED TO DEATH
Robert Emmett, aged 10 years, met his death about 1 o'clock
yesterday afternoon. Emmett and other lads were playing about a shanty boat
lodged at the foot of Central avenue and Emmett climbed on top of the boat and
attempted to jump into a flat boat containing several other lads.
He missed the boat, landing in the river, never to rise again. Fireman Ben Graham, a well known diver was sent for and soon brought the boy's body to the surface. Coroner Higgins was notified and after rendering a verdict had the remains removed to the home of the parents.
