NEWPORT

A FATAL ACCIDENT-Another deplorable accident occurred yesterday morning attended with fatal results. Richard Tucker, a young man between seventeen and eighteen years of age, was driving a car loaded with sand along Madison street, when as he neared Central avenue, he attempted to jump from his seat. His feet became entangled with the lines and threw him upon the ground in front of the wheels, one of which went over his leg diagonally across his breast, crushing it.

He was immediately picked up and taken into the house of Mr. Samuel Tippigan, when medical aid was summoned. He was beyond help, however, and soon died. He was conveyed by Mr. John Wessel of he firm of Weise & Wessel to his home at the residence of his father, Mr. James tucker on the south side of Madison street, between Saratoga street and Washington avenues. His mother had been informed that he was severely injured and as she was on a bed of sickness at the time, she was thrown into convulsions by the intelligence, so that fears are entertained as to the effects upon her of her son's terrible death.

The father has met with many other misfortunes recently and this comes to add to the heavy list. A Coroner's jury was summoned, and brought in a verdict in accordance with the facts.
