NEWPORT NEWS
BURIAL OF A SOLDIER-The mournful music of a dirge for the dead was heard by us yesterday, and on awaiting to inquire the cause, we saw a long line of soldiers from the Barracks, preceded by the Barracks Band and a hearse. There were on their way to the Newport Cemetery to perform the last and farewell rites for one of their number, Richard Trigg (sic) and as they moved along to the sad music, they left a mournful impression upon the crowds who stopped listening upon the corners.
