Richard Edward and Sarah F Secrist
Richard Edward Secrist was born Dec 1845 in Cincinnati, Oh, the son of Joseph and Theresa Anna. He enlisted in the Union Army on 25 Nov 1861 and served in the 4th Ohio Cavalry. The 4th Ohio was known also as the Cincinnati Union Dragoons. Richard enlisted at Camp Dennison and was under the command of Colonel John Kennett.
The regiment was attached to 3rd Division, Army of the Ohio, to October 1862. 2nd Brigade, Cavalry Division, Army of the Ohio, to November 1862. 2nd Brigade, Cavalry Division, Army of the Cumberland, to January 1863. 2nd Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division, Army of the Cumberland, to March 1863. 2nd Brigade, 2nd Cavalry Division, Army of the Cumberland, to October 1864. 2nd Brigade, 2nd Division, Cavalry Corps, Military Division Mississippi, to August 1865.
Richard mustered out on 29 Sep 1864 at Columbus Oh, and returned to Cincinnati. He married Sarah F Dean 23 Mar 1869 in Newport. She was born 29 June 1850 in Cincinnati, the daughter of Daniel Dean and Emma Senior.

Richard died in 1907 in Science Hill Ky. and is believed to be buried in his lot in Evergreen. Sarah died 25 Apr 1920 in Covington and was buried in Evergreen Cemetery.
