Pfc. Richard W Miller, husband of Mrs. Betty Miller, 929 Ann
street, Newport, was wounded in Franc, June 22, when struck by shrapnel from a
mortar gun, which lodged in his right hip, the war department notified his wife.
He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Miller, Alexandria, Ky.
A veteran of the North African campaign, Tunisia and Sicily, he is the recent recipient of the Purple Heart. He has been in the service 20 months, 16 months of which has been overseas with the Ninth Infantry Division.
