T Sgt. Richard T Linn recently returned from overseas duty and is
passing a furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J A Linn, of Tremont avenue,
Ft Thomas. A radio gunner, Sgt. Linn successfully completed 31 missions with the
crew of a B-24 Liberator.
In addition to the Purple Heart, the airman has been awarded the Air Medal with three Oak Leaf clusters, the Distinguished Flying Cross and two Stars to his European Theater of Operations Ribbon.

Ft Thomas Living
Mrs. J A Linn, 163 Tremont Avenue, Fort Thomas, received word yesterday that her son, Richard T Linn aerial gunner radio operator, has been promoted to Sergeant at the Wendover, Utah Air Base. A graduate of Highlands High School, Ft Thomas and the University of Kentucky, Sergeant Linn entered the Army December 7, 1942 at Ft Thomas. He was graduated from an Aerial Gunnery School at Wendover.
During Sergeant Linn's six week courses at Wendover, he received basic training, daily drill, lived under combat conditions, received training in the firing and maintenance of machine guns and all theoretical and practical courses vital to aerial gunnery.

Mr. and Mrs. J A Linn, 163 Tremont Avenue, Ft Thomas, have received word from their son, Staff Sgt. Richard T Linn, that he has been awarded the Purple Heart for wounds suffered from blak while on a bombing mission over Germany. Stationed in England since May 1, 1944, Sgt Linn is a radio gunner on the B-24 Liberator bomber "The Dina Might." He received the wound while on his fifth mission. After having been hospitalized for a month, he is now back on active duty.
