Fifteen persons claiming to be relatives of Richard Hartman, who died last April, Friday filed objections in District Court here to the probating of his "alleged will" Non is named an heir in the document. Hartman, a retired soldier who lived just east of Council Bluffs, left an estate estimated at $37,000. The objectors charge that Hartman was "incapable of making a will." The will that was filed for probate was drawn on April 3, 1939. In it Hartman said, "I have no relatives living."

It said he was born in Germany and from time to time various persons claimed relationship to him. "I never have been satisfied of correctness of such claims." it stated. The document directed that the estate was to go to Roy Maxfield, 341 Huntington Ave. in appreciation for the advice and assistance he had given Hartman. The objectors ask the District to set aside the document and hold that Hartman died intestate (without having a valid last will) and they be held as his heirs. The objectors are listed as Emil Hartman Jr. Arno Steinecke, Ida Schmid, Robert Hartman, Gertrude Petgel as listed as nephews and nieces of Hartman; Dorothy Kirkpatrick, Gilbert Hartman, Ervin, Roy, Jack and Kenneth Hartman and Clifford Hartman, listed as his grandnephews and grand nieces.
