NEWPORT
DIED WITH LOCKJAW-Ray, the ten year old son of Joseph Palmer, of
Twelfth and Patterson streets, died last night in a horrible agony, the result
of lockjaw. The lad some two weeks ago stepped upon a rusty hoe blade,
lacerating the foot badly. Dr. Helmbold attended, dressed the wound and
the boy, improving slightly, went out and jostled the wound against a rusty
nail.
Dr. Helmbold was again called, did everything within his power, but lockjaw set in yesterday and death ensued.
