Soldier's Memory Honored
A military requiem high mass was celebrated at Church of the
Immaculate Conception yesterday for Private Raymond Prout, 20 years old,
infantry, who was killed in France on July 3.
Private Prout enlisted in the regular army with 11 companions from Newport. They were assigned to the same regiment and were sent to France several months ago. He was wounded in action in Picardy early in May and was reported recovered last month.
Two of his companions, John Cottingham and Benjamin Simon were wounded in the same engagement.
