Private Carroll, under 18 months sentence for desertion, escaped
from Ft Thomas Ky. Tuesday evening at guard mount. He was lined up with the
other soldiers and slipped away unnoticed while the soldier's attention was
occupied with the ceremony.
It was later learned that he started for Cincinnati and the Cincinnati police were notified.
