BELLEVUE
Mr. Ivor, representing himself as the agent of a syndicate of
bookmakers, applied to Mayor Nagel for permission to open and operate a poolroom
in Bellevue, agreeing to pay the city for the privilege and to conduct an
orderly house.
Mr. Ivor also agreed to exclude all local bettors. Mr. Ivor offered many inducements if allowed to open a room here and expressed a willingness to give a bond for the faithful fulfillment of any contract that would be required of the bookmakers.
Mayor Nagel refused to entertain the propositions and gave Mr. Ivor to understand that if any room was opened he would have everyone connected therewith arrests.
