Capt. P S Givan, 78, was recovering Friday attending physicians said, of gunshot wounds at his home on Electric av. Clifton, near Newport. He had been ill for several months, police learned and had expressed fear that his illness would terminate in death. He was found in his room late Thursday suffering from a bullet wound in his left side, which caused a fracture of a rib. No one could explain how the gun came to be discharged.

Philetus S Givan, 73, who died Monday at his home, Shaler and Electric av. Southgate, was a veteran railroad man, having been in the employ of the L&NRR Co for 50 years. Heart disease was given as the cause of death. He leaves two daughters. Funeral services will be held at the residence Wednesday afternoon. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
