NEWPORT
Captain Pete McArthur returned to Black River Ark. last night
after a visit to his family here. While here he closed a deal with
Louisville parties for the construction of a $12,000 steamboat to be put in the
Black River trade.

Peter McArthur was born 23 May 1838 in Newport, the son of James Madison McArthur and Mary Jane Stricker. He died 9 Sep 1917 in Dayton, Ky. and was buried in the Evergreen Cemetery.
