NEWPORT
Patrick Scahill, aged 50 years, a stonemason of No 61
Grandview avenue, Bellevue, was struck last evening by a passenger train on the
C and O Railroad, near Bellevue and received injuries that proved fatal an hour
later in St Elizabeth Hospital.
For some time there was doubt as to who the dead man was and this was cleared by an Enquirer man. At 10 o'clock last night an Enquirer man called on Mrs. Patrick Scahill and found the family anxiously awaiting the return of Mr. Scahill. Mrs. Scahill intuitively divined that something was wrong and when told of the accident said:
"He's been killed, just as James his son, was at the same place seven years ago." The deceased leaves a widow, two daughters and one son. Coroner Tarvin was notified and will hold an inquest today.
