INVESTIGATION OF BOY MURDER
Coroner Digby this afternoon impaneled a jury to assist him in
the investigation of the killing of Patrick E McNelis, who died early yesterday
at Speers Hospital, the result of a pistol shot wound, inflicted, it is alleged
by Reuben Grossheim, during a fight Sunday night at Sixth and York sts. Newport.
The investigation made by the police and Coroner shows that McNelis and a young man named Earl Williams had a fight previous to the shooting, which was stopped by the police. Neither of the combatants were satisfied with the outcome of the first fight and they agreed to fight again. It was during the second fight that Grossheim, who was a friend of Williams, is alleged to have fired the shot which later caused McNelis death.
The funeral of young McNelis will take place tomorrow morning, with services at the Immaculate Conception Church at 7:30 o'clock.
