Owen Perkins Ransom
Cincinnati Daily Gazette, Monday, 12 January 1880, page 8
Colonel O P Ransom, died suddenly at his house on Ann street, Newport, at half past 2 am Saturday morning. The Coroner's jury pronounced the cause of his death apoplexy. Colonel Ransom graduated with high honors at West Point (in the class of 1838) and entered the army with bright prospects, but the unfortunate habit of intemperance darkened his intellect and ruined his life.
He was a civil engineer of great ability and was employed for several years in that capacity by the County Commissioners of Hamilton County O. He leaves two daughters to mourn his loss.
