A touching poem dedicated to his mother, Mrs. Anna Murphy, of 214 W Third street, Newport, has been sent home by PFC Ovie C Bennett, 19, who is serving with an infantry division in Germany.
The soldier has been overseas eight months and has been awarded several decorations including the Bronze Star medal. Three other boys in Mrs. Murphy's family also are in the Army. Pfc Thomas C, Pvt Otis and Edger Murphy.
