NEWPORT
LIEUTENANT O A THOMPSON, of the Thirteenth United State Infantry,
died at the Newport Barracks yesterday morning of smallpox. His remains will be
taken to Springfield Ill. for interment
The flag at the Barracks was displayed at half mast yesterday through respect to the memory of the deceased.
