The new Newport Board of Commissioners was inducted into office Monday. Mayor Oscar Hesch Jr. was seated as chairman of the board with commissioners Earl Dietz, Clarence W Lehkamp, Maynard Heck and Paul Bardo assuming the four commissioner positions on the board.

Former Mayor Oscar Hesch, twice a city commissioner, was named to replace City Manager J B Morlidge after the latter's resignation had been accepted with regret. The meeting was held without Mayor James E Deckert, political foe of Mr. Morlidge. The mayor is in New York attending a conference of mayors.
