Services for Kenton countys second drowning victim of 1952, Miss Norma Moore, 15, of 520 Elm street, Newport, were completed by the Radel Funeral Home, Newport, Monday. The body of the young victim was recovered from the Licking River Sunday, approximately 20 hours after she went under while wading with three other teenagers. Three fishermen, Franklin Holloway, Dominick Larusso and Lewis Hemer discovered the body and brought it to shore.
Miss Moore was wading in the river at the foot of Locust Pike with Goldie Bonner, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bonner, 521 Elm street; Thomas Clark, 16, of 509 Elm street and Larry Wells, 14, all of Newport. Kenton county police sdai they learned the youngsters all stepped into a sink hole. The boys grabbed the girls and tried to get them to safety. Larry said he held Miss Moore above the surface until his strenght gave out. She was swept away in a strong undertow. Thomas was able to get to shallow water with the younger girl.
Robert C Dorsey, acting Kenton County coroner gave a verdict of accidental drowning. Miss Moore leaves her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Moore, a brother, George at home and her grandmother, Mrs. Amanda Johnson. Services are set for 2 pm Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
