Jeffersonville, IND. Sept 3-N A Dailey, of Newport, Ky. father of Mr. Reuben Dailey, editor of the Daily News of this city, died at his son's residence, near town, last night, and was buried in this city today. He was well known and highly esteemed at Newport.

Mr. William Haller made a shrewd speech after which Mr. Reuben Dailey, editor of the Jeffersonville Ind. News, gave his personal experience as an infidel. His father died about two weeks ago, a Catholic and he spoke of an infidel's consolation at the deathbed, the comfort being that his father had lived a good life and there was no purgatory, and the father had taught him to be truthful and therefore he was an infidel.

Nicholas Alfred Dailey was born May 15, 1810 in St Giles in the Fieldss, Camden, England, the son of Michael and Sarah. He married Hannah Bird 22 April 1833 in Bushey, Hertford, England. By 1850 they were in Cincinnati.

By 1860 Nicholas and Hannah are in Newport Ky. where he is working as a dyer. Nicholas enlisted in the Civil War Army 16th Infantry Co C in Maysville Ky. He was held as a POW in Greensboro, NC, but was released 18 Dec 1861, when he returned to Newport. In 1870 census Nicholas and Hannah are in Newport, where he is working as a dyer. In 1880 Hannah was living with her son, Reuben, in Jeffesonville, Ind.
