The school at Indian Springs opened yesterday with Miss Thomas as Teacher.
The Mile Society of St Paul's church met last evening at the residence of M H Lewis on Washington Ave.

Mr. M V Daly has presented his daughter Mrs. A J Mossett with two find dwelling houses. Gus pays no daily rent now.
Anton Moeller, the zithem player will give a "grosses zithorn concert" (whatever that is) at the Stadt Theater tomorrow night.
Miss Emma Case was recommended by the School Board Committee to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Mrs. L M Quarry.
Two back loads of Cincinnati's solid men were in the city yesterday. We noticed Capt. Bob Wise in the party. They came over to see the Short Line depot.
Benjamin Newkirk of Alexandria, filed his petition in bankruptcy last evening, with Register Robert Richardson. Liabilities, $890.98; assets, $61.50.
The pupils of the Public schools in charge of Prof. Jones will visit the "zoo" on Saturday and take a lesson in natural history and air themselves generally.
The "Evening Stars" will give a masquerade at Eclipse Hall Thanksgiving Eve, November 28. The party is composed of our live young men, and will not doubt be "a daisy".
A literary and dancing club has been organized by Messrs. Wentworth, Wadsworth, Applegate and others. Miss Annie Brown, of Taylor st. will entertain the club on Friday evening.
Mr. John Butcher Jr. will be united in marriage to Miss Mary Schneider of Cincinnati, at the St Johns German Church, Cincinnati tomorrow night. Five hundred invitation have been issued.
Mr. James Kidwell while returning from Cincinnati at a late hour last night was waylaid by two foot pads. The time made by Jim on this occasion has only been equaled by that of his once excellent mare.
While Taylor Berry's son was hauling fodder yesterday on eight mile creek, in crossing the bridge it gave way, precipitating horses, wagon and boy into the creek. The boy escaped but a valuable horse was killed.
The Arion Singing Society under the leadership of Prof. Steiner, bids fair to be a success. There were over thirty members present last night; Newport is not going to be outdone by Covington with her "Choral Society" This way Prof. Hunt.
The school children of the St Johns Lutheran Sunday school held a fair at Eclipse hall last night. It was largely attended and concluded with a pleasant dance. The Germans know how to enjoy themselves. Every ticket holder was entitled to a chance on a watch.
Butcher Hahn sold his household goods at auction at his farm on the river pike. All the butchers attended the sale. Nachtwachter Krause bought a clock for $1.74. When he proceeded to wind it up there was no works inside-nothing but flies and spider webs. They are going to have a law suite.
There were six parties in town last night and a silver wedding. We could not get around to all of them, but dropped in at Mr. James Corbett's on Tibbatts st. and remained long enough to see the gay gambols of Ponto and hear one of Prof. James Skelton's rollicking songs, The Professor is a "good un at singin'."
