Newport Methodist Episcopal Church

On July 1840, James McClure transferred fro $5000 the deed of the Newport Presbyterian Church, to Isaac Hayman, John B Lindsay, George C Tarvin, James Wall and Edward Southgate, Trustees of the Methodist Episcopal Church in Newport.  The basement room was rented for a subscription school as there were no school houses then.
