At a meeting of the stockholders of the Newport City Fuel
Company, held on Tuesday evening, the following were elected Directors for the
ensuing year: Jacob Hawthorn, P Constans, John P Jackson, N B Shaler and F M
Webster.
The Board of Directors met this evening at the office of F M Webster, for the purpose of organizing. The formation of a fuel company in Newport is a good idea and we are glad to learn that our citizens are aroused to the importance of the movement. A large amount of stock has already been taken and the company will soon be in full blast.

The President of the Council of Newport was directed to subscribe for 25 shares of stock in the Newport Fuel Company.
