Moses and Deborah Gard

 

Information comes from the family files at the Campbell County Historical & Genealogical Society in Alexandria

 

Moses Gard was born in Redstone, Fayette County, Pennsylvania in 1792.  Moses died by gun shot 2 June 1852 at Six Mile Lock, near Leitch's Station in Wilder.  He was buried at Newport Cemetery in Southgate June 3. (Newport Cemetery was renamed Evergreen in 1884)  He married Deborah Greene, daughter of Andrew and Mary Greene, who was born 7 Sep 1796 in Pennsylvania, died 25 Feb 1869 in Dayton and was buried in the Newport Cemetery in Southgate Feb 27.

Switchman Dies When He Falls Between Cars

Body was Dragged by Freight Train

Clarence Gard 33, Pennsylvania railroad switchman, who lives on Fifth Avenue in Dayton KY. was killed in an accident in the East End yard of the railroad early Monday, according to the report of Coroner Handley, Gard fell between the cars of a moving freight train and was dragged a considerable distance. His body was almost unrecognizable. Death was instantaneous. Gard was a member of the first Baptist Church of Dayton.
