Edward and Elizabeth Morin

From the Early Days of Alexandria by Elizabeth Morrow Cooley

Edwin Morin was born in Culpepper Co Virginia on July 7, 1745 and died on September 16, 1841 in the section directly south of Alexandria known as Flag Spring, where he and his wife lie buried in the cemetery of the old Flag Spring Baptist Church.  His wife Elizabeth Jones came with him from Virginia where they had married in 1781.  She was born 27 Jan 1775 and died 27 May 1857 in the 82nd year of her life, but the correct date is not known for sure as the stone is quite corroded in the cemetery obliterating the dates.

Edward's father came to this country from Scotland settling in Virginia where he took up farming.  Edward Morin fought in the Revolutionary War from the State of Virginia.  Later after coming to Kentucky and settling near Alexandria about 1799 via Limestone (Maysville) he became a farmer and was quite active in the early affairs of the region.
