ILLNESS FATAL

Michael J. Steffen, 62, of 3323 Carlisle, Ave, Covington, died Friday night at his home following a lingering illness. Rev. J.B. Reiter, pastor of Holy Cross Church, administered the last sacraments of the Catholic Church.

Steffen was a lifelong resident of northern Kentucky and was very widely known in Campbell-co. He had conducted a cafe in Ft. Thomas for 15 years. Steffen was a member of St. Francis Court, Catholic Order of Foresters, of Dayton; Newport Lodge of Moose, Dayton Aerie of Eagles and Sons of German Pioneers.

Besides his widow, Mrs. Magdalene Steffen, he is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Alma Good, Park Hills; Mrs. Hilda Livingston, Newport; daughter-in-law of Andrew J. Livingston, former Newport mayor; Mrs. Loretta Barkhau, Latonia; Mrs. Gertrude Hale, Akron, Ohio; and Mrs. Florence Bregel, Cleveland, Ohio; six grandchildren; three brothers, Joseph Frank and John Steffen, and three sisters, Mrs. John Wolpert,

Funeral services for Steffen will be held Tuesday from the home, with requiem high mass at 9 a.m. at Holy Cross Church, Latonia.  Burial will be in St. Stephens Cemetery, Ft. Thomas.

John N. Middendorf Sons, Covington undertakers are in charge of the funeral.
