Michael V Smith, a veteran of the Civil War, died yesterday at the National Soldier's Home at Dayton O. He had been a resident of Newport for many years. A widow and one daughter Anna (Emma) B Smith, a teacher in the public schools, survive him. The funeral will take place at 2:30 pm tomorrow from the residence Electric av. Southgate.
