Michael Heisch

Kentucky Post, Friday, 21 August 1896, page 5

The dismembered body of Michael Heisch, whose disappearance was announced in the Kentucky Post, August 7, was found Thursday afternoon at Cote Brilliante, just south of Newport. The head was held to the limb of a tree by a light blue necktie. The trunk was found 10 feet away. The ghastly discovery was made by Eddy Hodum and Henry Fausz, two 16 year old lads, who were wandering through the thicket at that place.

A pair of brogans, jeans, trousers and a shirt were on the headless body. A coat and straw hat were near by. In the pockets of the coat were a pipe, several sheets of blank paper and a notebook, which led to the identification. The name of Michael Heisch was written on one of the pages.

Coroner Tingley had the body removed to White's morgue, where it was later identified by his two sons. Heisch was 52 years of age. He attempted suicide two years ago by cutting himself with a razor.
