Squire M F (sic) Donelan, prominent in Democratic Party affairs in Northern Kentucky and for the past 12 years a Magistrate in Newport, retired from office today and is succeeded by Patrick Gleason.
Squire Donelan during the term of his office has performed more marriage ceremonies than any other similar official in the State. The records of his office show he tied the nuptial knot for 3391 couples and he is known far and wide as the marrying Squire. A record of every ceremony performed by him has been carefully kept, together with the names of the witnesses to the marriages.

Any farmer whose sheep are killed by dogs may recover from the State upon presentation of his claim, duly verified to the Fiscal Court. Squire Donelan recently made a quiet examination of the tax duplicates. He says in many instances where farmers drew money for having sheep killed failed to show that they ever owned any sheep.
The situation is serious for the farmers, Squire Donelan says, for they are caught between the horns of a dilemma. Either they had the sheep and sent in false duplicates or else they did not have the sheep and sent in false claims.
