June 24, 1850 Campbell County Kentucky

I certify that my daughter a young woman has been afflicted with sour eyes caused by a scum or flem obscuring the sigh for 10 or 12 years apart of which time she has been unable to see her way, and after speaking to some eminent physician of the country who refusing to undertake her eyes, I very fortunately became acquainted with Mr. Lightfoot near cold spring post office Campbell co. Ky, who undertook her in his singular way of operation and to my utter astonishment I firmly believe that it is through his stratagem or way of operation that has cured her {as there has been no other means or remedy used} she is now perfectly well and able to see distinctly.  And to him, Mr. Lightfoot, I attribute the whole honor and credit of the cure.
