Cincinnati Enquirer, 29 August 1905, page 9
Matt Morris, aged 28, of Flagg Springs, Campbell County,
Kentucky, was accidentally shot late Sunday night by a boy named Thatcher Wilson
and fatally wounded. Sunday night Morris and Watson, who is but 14 years of age,
went to the home of Peter Mason to spend a few hours.
Morris, in looking for some tobacco, found an old revolver in a box. Later in the evening Watson began playing with the weapon, thinking it was unloaded. He pointed the gun at Morris and pulled the trigger. There was a loud report and Morris reeled from his chair and fell to the floor with a bullet wound in his forehead.
Dr. Hostetter, of Point Pleasant and Dr. Blades of California, were summoned but both pronounced the young man beyond medical aid. The injured man is a son of Arnold Morris of California, Ohio.
