NEWPORT NEWS
ARREST OF A SUPPOSED SPY-Provost Marshal John T Maphet arrested a
man named Matthew Jenkins, on Monday evening, on the charge of being a rebel
spy, and lodged him in the Newport jail. He was found at the house of his
brother, Thomas Jenkins about ten miles from the city, near the Ohio River.
