MAN, 58, FACING CHARGE OF GIRL, 14
Hearing Underway, Second is accused
A jury was being selected in Judge Raymond L Murphy's Campbell Circuit Court Wednesday to hear the case of Mason Jones, 58 year old married man of E Riverside drive, Newport, charged with statutory offense against a 14 year old Newport girl.
The girl an expectant mother who has been held in an institution by Campbell county juvenile authorities, issued a statement upon her appearance in court Wednesday, naming another man, Lawrence Bell, 39 of 122 E Riverside drive, Newport in a similar offense.
Milton Lape, Campbell relief director who works in conjunction with juvenile authorities swore a warrant for Bell's arrest and he was lodged in Newport jail.
Jones is alleged to have carnal knowledge of the girl on May 19. Bell was arrested by Campbell Co Police Chief Len Plummer. Jones is represented by Daniel W Davis and Morris Weintraub who were named on the defense post by Judge Murphy.
