O M Wright, clerk of 641 Overton Street, Newport Ky. missed death
by one inch at his desk at 223 East Sixth Street, late Tuesday, when a pistol
ball came crashing through the ceiling and imbedded itself in his desk.
Mamie Hunter, the white wife of a negro, quarreled with Hattie Minor, colored, upstairs and while both were struggling, a revolver was discharged. Sergt. Goepper arrested the women.
