Pioneer Pilot wins top civilian honor. Martha Bevins who lived in Ft Thomas will receive the Congressional Gold Medal, the nation's highest civilian honor, posthumously. President Barack Obama signed the WASP Congressional Gold Medal bill into law in 2009.

The Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASP) was a civilian women pilots organization who became trained pilots, tested aircraft, ferried aircraft and trained other pilots. It was formed Aug 5, 1943 and was dissolved Dec 20, 1944.
