PIONEER RESIDENT
Mrs. Maria Blinn, aged 85, a pioneer resident of Newport and
Campbell co. died last night at the residence of her son, on Washington av.
after a short illness. Mrs. Blinn had been failing for a month and her death was
not unexpected. When the end came she was surrounded by all her living children,
A B Blinn and W H Blinn, of Dayton; O B Blinn of Newport, and Mrs. F A Lee of
Cincinnati.
Mrs. Blinn was a daughter of Lyman Rugg, one of the earliest settlers of Campbell co. She was born in the old Rugg homestead on the Ohio River just above Dayton in 1823 and has lived in Campbell co. most of her life. She was a sister of Lieut. Charles Rugg, former prominent army man and resident of Newport. She was the widow of Ozias Blinn, who died in Dayton about 15 years ago.
The funeral will be held at 2 o'clock from the chapel in Evergreen Cemetery.
