NEWPORT
The funeral of the late Mrs. Margaret Walsh took place yesterday
morning from the Church of the Immaculate Conception. The deceased was the wife
of M C Walsh, and being a most estimable lady, the church was filled with
mourning friends and relatives.
Rev Father McNerny celebrated high mass of requiem and Mrs. Josie Mariani delivered in her inimitable manner, the beautiful hymn, "Some Sweet Day". The pall bearers were Messrs. John Forbes, D J Linnehan, H M Heaty, A J Mossett, Daniel Kirby and Wm Sutton. The floral tributes were numerous and magnificent and showed the esteem in which the deceased was regarded by her many friend and acquaintances.
The remains, followed by a large funeral cortege, were interred in St Stephen Cemetery. A short while previous to her death, she and her husband celebrated the forty-second anniversary of their marriage.
