The Board of Education of Newport refused to re-elect Miss Margie Gilson as a teacher for next year because of her frequent visits to Scott Jackson, who is in Jail sentenced to be hanged for murdering Pearl Bryan. The evidence against the teacher showed she had taken Jackson several presnts. And who will say the Board of Education did not treat this would be teacher just right?

Miss Margaret Gilson, 58, died late Sunday at her residence, 414 E Fourth st. Newport. She retired as teacher of the Newport public schools several years ago because of failing health. She was a graduate of the Kentucky State Normal School.
The funeral will be held Tuesday at 10 am from Cunningham & Dobbling's Chapel, Bellevue. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
