Marcella Leona Feth
Marcella Leona Feth, was born 31 Jan 1878 in Newport, the daughter of Joseph George Feth and Clara J Kellinger. She became one of the first women from Campbell County to graduate from the Cincinnati College of Pharmacy, doing so in 1897. After graduation, she joined her father’s practice, which she apparently took over after his death. An 1897 city directory listed her as a clerk in her father’s practice and a 1906 list showed her as a pharmacist in the same place. A report from 1908, two years after Joseph’s death then listed her individually on a list of druggists, with the same 8th and York Street address as it had shown for him, as did a 1910 record.
The 1910 and 1920 census lists recorded her in this same industry, but she was living and working in Cincinnati by 1915, probably earlier, as her uncle George Widrig had moved his drug store into the 8th and York building by 1912. By 1930, Marcella had apparently retired and was with her brother Albert in Cincinnati. She was also active with her alma mater’s alumni association in these years.
