DESERTER-How to make $30 in 30 minutes. This is what Manson Williams, a self-confessed deserter from the Twelfth Battery of Field Artillery, told Acting Sergeant of Police Ben Schweinefuss Thursday afternoon. Williams walked into the Covington Police Headquarters and told Schweinefuss he was going to kill himself. Schweinefuss asked for an explanation.
Williams then said he had deserted from the army and that in case the officer should take him to Ft Thomas he would receive a reward of $30. The man was very drunk and did not appear to realize what he was saying. Schweinfusss promptly took him out to Ft Thomas where his story was verified. Schweinefuss will receive the $30 reward.
